One question I am often asked is: what is the nationality of your students? Mostly I have students from 4 nationalities – Palestinian, Syrian, Lebanese and Indians. 12 students already have the CIPLE Certificate (Initial Certificate of Portuguese as a Foreign Language) – level A2, and one has the DIPLE Certificate (Intermediate Diploma of Portuguese as a Foreign Language) – Level B2. For those unfamiliar with the terms, CIPLE attests to a basic general ability to interact in a limited number of daily communication situations, with a very basic level of Portuguese. DIPLE already allows for a more advanced level of language, allowing them to integrate into a workplace, including the attendance of academic courses. My students are all adults between 30 and 65 years old, with very active working lives, traveling a lot, and who are always learning Portuguese with great commitment and dedication. The preparation is demanding and methodical, always with a permanent state of doubt: “will I succeed?”. Everyone goes through the moment of panic when they hear the words: Caple’s oral exam. Since its an audio file, the voice from the exam speaks quite fast, sometimes using background noises to make it harder to understand. The students get a bit nervous, afraid not to understand what is said. The interview also gives them some “tummy aches” because it’s not easy to predict what they will ask, but in the end they always shine. My students have already taken the exams in Lisbon, Seville and London. Right now, I have 20 students in preparation for the international CIPLE of November 2019 and April 2020, which will take the exams in Lisbon, London, Macau, Shanghai and Ankara. All students who have already did the exams or are preparing to do so, don’t live in Portugal and I’m their only connection to the Portuguese language. I must be very proud of their commitment and the good results they have achieved so far. Makes me want to do more and better, for their dream, for a purpose, for my students! CIPLE/DIPLE, a realização de um sonho! Uma pergunta que me fazem muitas vezes é: qual é a nacionalidade dos teus alunos? Maioritariamente tenho alunos de 4 nacionalidades – Palestinianos, Sírios, Libaneses e Indianos. 12 alunos já têm o Certificado CIPLE (Certificado Inicial de Português Língua Estrangeira) – nível A2, e um deles já tem o Certificado DIPLE (Diploma Intermédio de Português Língua Estrangeira) – Nível B2. Para quem não está familiarizado com os termos, o CIPLE atesta uma capacidade geral para interagir num número limitado de situações de comunicação do quotidiano, com um nível básico de português. O DIPLE já permite um nível mais avançado da língua, o que lhes permite a integração em contexto de trabalho, inclusive a frequência de cursos académicos. Os meus alunos são todos adultos com idades compreendidas entre os 30 e os 65 anos, com vidas profissionais muito ativas, que viajam muito, e que encaram a aprendizagem do português sempre com grande compromisso, dedicação e empenho. O plano de preparação é exigente e metódico, sempre com um estado permanente de dúvida: “será que vou conseguir?”. Todos passam pelo momento de pânico, quando ouvem as palavras PROVA ORAL do Caple. Sendo uma prova com áudio, a voz do exame por vezes fala bastante rápido, utilizando ruídos de fundo, para dificultar a compreensão. Os alunos ficam com “nervoso miudinho”, com receio de não perceberem aquilo que é dito. A entrevista também lhes dá algumas “dores de barriga”, porque não é fácil prever o que vão perguntar, mas no final, acabam sempre por brilhar. Os meus alunos já fizeram os exames em Lisboa, Sevilha e Londres. Neste momento tenho 20 alunos em preparação para o CIPLE internacional de Novembro de 2019 e Abril de 2020, que vão realizar os exames em Lisboa, Londres, Macau, Shanghai e Ankara. Todos os alunos que já fizeram os exames ou se estão a preparar para o fazer, não vivem em Portugal e eu sou o único elo de ligação deles, com a língua portuguesa. Só tenho de sentir orgulho pelo seu empenho e pelos bons resultados que têm obtido até hoje. Faz-me querer fazer mais e melhor, por um sonho, por um objetivo, pelos meus alunos!
