I was born in Espinho, a beautiful city by the sea, 17 kms from Oporto. I have been an entrepreneur for 25 years and a teacher for 20 of them. Recently I completed a Doctorate in Multimedia in Education. As a mother of two beautiful children, I love to be constantly informed and learning new subject matter, mostly because of my background in business and being part of a long line of entrepreneurs in the family. If I may call myself, I am a “teacherpreneur”.
In 2015 I moved to Dubai and since then I have experienced teaching in an International context, discovering another passion – teaching my native language to adults from different nationalities and cultures. After completing my certification and starting work in a successful certified international school of languages, my experience with private classes and group classes in different International schools, gave me the knowledge and confidence to adapt to any student requirements.
With so many things on our minds, big responsibilities and lack of support, as an adult it can be very difficult to learn a new language. Using the best method and strategy for my students, this is a critical success factor, as the JÁ ESTÁ program creates a significant link with Portugal, its language and culture. Having taught European Portuguese to more than 180 adults from the 5 continents and different nationalities, many have already passed the CIPLE exam.
Whether getting students ready to move to Portugal for retirement, starting a new life project or preparing for the CIPLE exam, the process is very energising. A s a creative, attentive and hardworking teacher, I strive to help my students learn European Portuguese, make it part of their daily routine and include tips to deal with daily life situations and business challenges. Teaching online with all the new technology has great benefits.
With the experience gained, I decided to create JÁ ESTÁ!, considering the success of my students, especially those who continue to speak Portuguese. It’s an ongoing and evolving project, with constant development and the continuous addition of new materials. The website’s improvement is driven by the ongoing interaction with students, their suggestions, and ideas, making it a dynamic platform for learning and connection.
You can find lots of tips about Portuguese culture, sightseeing, living, studying and even moving to Portugal in my blogs. I will be thrilled to teach you European Portuguese and make it a very interesting and easy experience for you, so let’s start now !
